Story Time!
So yesterday we had another skirmish gang that turned out to be quite fun but I forgot to fraps it. In fact I've forgotten most of what happened already... Hmmm. I guess I'll tell you what I remember!
So after playing a bit of League of Legends with Sashenka and finally hitting level 30 (WOOHOOO!!) we decided to play a bit of Eve. Shortly after logging in Sash has probed a wormhole in our home system and it leads to Venal. Myself, Sash & Eaglecrys fleet up. Sash tells us tales of previous pvp outings to Venal and how many carebears are in this certain system. Curious of what shiney ships would be awaiting us at our destination we head on in. A friendly local called Jericho159 laughs at our ship choices to roam nullsec and tells us to go to VFK for some action. We ignore him and eagerly burn towards our shiney destination. Venal seems pretty dead but Sashenka's positive that this system is the holy grail and we'll find something shiney. Turns out the only shiney thing in system was the sun, fun times.
We then start burning for random destinations and Sash comes across a Raiden. gang on station. They have 3 Panthers, Tengu, Huginn, Rapier, Oracle, 3 stealth bombers and a dramiel. Although not all of these were there at the start. Sash kills the Dramiel in his Drake as he runs away. We decide to engage and pull them through the gate into us so we could suicide dive the rapier and then take down some stealth bombers. We ended up destroying the rapier and then been destroyed ourselves. However we were happy with the exchange of a Dramiel & Rapier for 3 battlecruisers. We asked them to help us take the pod express and they did. Well they did with Sash & Eagle but they seemed to dislike me and made me wait 2 minutes :(.
Now we're back in our home system relaxing in station wondering what to go out in next. I'm messing around in my room when I hear Sash say he's found a tengu in a plex. Myself & Eagle get back to the wormhole just as Sash says he has a point. We jump on in and more candy appears, a tornado decloaks. On landing I notice the Tengu pilot is Jericho159, the same guy who mocked us and told us to go toVFK for a fight earlier. We quickly rape the Tengu and Tornado. This time were in a Gila, Vaga & Hurricane. Laughs are had on teamspeak at Jericho159 and we head back through the wormhole to our home system. Turns out he had around
300M worth of salvage in his hold that dropped :). As we're in warp to the station another Tornado decloaks in the plex but he's long gone before we can get back. We dock up and chill out for a while.
A while later a couple more corp members log on and are hungry for explosions. We have some corp stuff to do first but decide to go for a roam in Syndicate. After about an hour of saying we're going to form up and pvp we actually do so. There's five of us with two dual boxing. We have my Gila, two Tempest's, Hurricane, Rupture and the alt's in a Scimitar & Falcon. We head to the PC9 area to see if we can get a fight but it's quiet. We then decide to head down into the S-U pocket where we usually always get a fight. However on the way Wolfy mentions an Armageddon undocked from station and I go to see if he redocked or warped. Turns out he had warped off to a gate so we start chasing him. We don't catch him but we do see a fleet on scan in one of the systems we're in. From what we can see they have 4 Drakes, Tengu, Rapier and some tackle? After a very short conversation we decide to jump in and warp to the gate they're on. They warp off and proceed to run from us stating the fact we have a Falcon and a Scimitar as the reason they are doing so. We leave these guys to it and go looking for more targets.
Shortly after we come across another gang. These guys have Drakes, 3 Basilisks and some others I can't remember. Aware that the Basilisks could out-rep us we discuss whether we can fight them. Noting our Falcon had two Caldari jammers and our Tempests both had heavy neuts we knew we stood a chance. The call was made for Rogerios to try jam 2 Basilisks and let us know the results. We warp in at about 30km range and proceed to engage. A Falcon uncloaks on grid so Rogerious has to jam this guy instead. We primary the Falcon and he hits very low armor before the Basilisks start to rep him. We must have scared him because he warps off. Immediately after, Rogerious calls that he has one Basilisk jammed and the pilots name. I then ask him to keep that one perma-jammed and designate another Basilisk as the one to be neuted while calling primary for damage on the third. This must have worked as they start to deagress, apart from one drake who keeps aggresisng. Maybe he wasn't on voice comms? He died. More banter on teamspeak about the situation and we head back to the PC9 area to see if they are ready to fight yet, dropping off loot on the way.
Once in the PC9 area Sash gets chatting to his friendly hostile and see's if they want a fight. Before that can happen the Drake/Tengu/Rapier gang from earlier are back in the area and seem to want to fight. Who are we to say no to them? For a while we're both sat on either side of the gate waiting for the other to come through. I ask the fleet to move over to another system nearby to see if they follow us. As we land on the outgate there's an Ishkur engaging a Drake. We give the Ishkur a hand and obliterate the Drake. The hostile gang have dived into local at this point and are in warp to our gate so we burn off and get some distance. I call the Rapier primary but notice a Sabre and Stiletto burning for Sash in his Tempest. We immediately change primaries to these and kill them quickly. By this time the drakes have already got hold of Sash and the alt Scimitar was out of range to rep him, doh! I call the nearest drake to Sash primary thinking of trying to get scrams off him even though he's heavily webbed. I definitely should have called the Rapier primary again. Sash notices our Falcon alt in a pretty bad position so the Falcon warps out. Our lighter more agile ships do well at keeping range while engaging. Our Tempests, although fast for a battleship, are still slow compared to the rest of us and are taken down by their fleet. I then notice Eagle quite close to them and mention it on comms. Turns out his capacitor died. At that point I find out there's only one ship with a point on him and call that ship primary. Unfortunatley he still dies, we don't get the kill and I call the warp out. We may have lost this time but still had a whole lot of fun. Eagle was especially psyched as he hadn't had a pvp kill for over 100 days.
Heading back to our home system we shortly analyse what happened and how we can do better in future. Replacing Tempests for Tornados is the main suggestion with other idea's floating about. Personally I was thinking about my target calling and situation awareness as I haven't done it for a while. I made a few mistakes with primaries, especially not going back to the rapier but all in all I didn't think I did too badly.
Yet another day where I actually wanted to play Eve. A month ago I couldn't be bothered to even login but thanks to these old friends and the fact that they've left their corps to come fly with me and Sash again, my love for Eve is slowly coming back.
Turns out my memory seems to be slowly coming back too!
